Nobody says they believe the markets will grow forever but many of us sure act as if they will. I'm a firm believer in the metrics Gary Schilling uses, even though in 2010 he predicted stagflation for the next 10 years. At 30% cash and shorting the market I would say he's confident a market correction is due this year. I agree. The scary thing is the scale of the correction necessary to revert to mean values. And perhaps even scarier is Schilling's reminder that corrections of this scale tend to overshoot the mean on their way down.
